Flourish Media is branching out into the rest of Canada. We will have representatives attending a number of conferences and festivals.

Naomi Angel, our associate producer, will be attending Primetime in Ottawa mid February. Karen Olsson, our producer will attend NSI in Winnipeg February 28th through March 3rd. Creative Director, Adam Gooch will attend the iSummit conference in Toronto at the end of March and will also be showcasing new Flourish projects at the Banff Festival in June.

The NSI FilmExchange has announced it will be screening the award-winning short, Getting Married in March 2006. Produced by Flourish Media, the film was a big hit at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, winning the best Canadian short film, sponsored by the National Film Board.

Directed by Rani K. Sandhu, Getting Married is the story of a young Indo-Canadian woman struggling against her family's wish for her to get married. In this coming-of-age film, Amrit tries to negotiate the complex middle ground between her traditional Indian upbringing and her own desires derived from growing up in a western culture.

Getting Married is winning over audiences and critics alike. The short film, produced by Karen Middleton and Nilesh C. Patel of Flourish Media, has just garnered the coveted Best Canadian Short award at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. The award, sponsored by the National Film Board, was announced on November 6th at the VAFF's filmmaker's luncheon.
